Pacific College is seeking a dynamic individual for the full-time position of Nursing Academic Advisor at our New York campus.

*This position is hybrid with at least 2-3 days per week required at the New York campus. *

General Job Summary

The Nursing Academic Advisor provides student-centered support and guidance to students in the prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing program regarding college and university policies, course selection, and registration.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Provides student-centered support and guidance to students in the prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing program regarding college and university policies, course selection, and registration.
  • Responds to student inquiries, assists in problem resolution, advises on program changes, and develops academic plans and schedules.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for students with respect to program requirements and graduation.
  • Analyzes transcripts for transfer credit evaluation for entry Bachelor of Science in Nursing (pre-licensure) program in college.
  • Initiates and maintains individual student files updating and evaluating as new information is received. Reviews student files to ensure deadlines are met for completing admission requirements such as coursework requirements, and other program specific requirements.
  • Provides students with accurate, complete, and timely information on college policies and procedures.
  • Assist students in the selection of appropriate courses in terms of students’ stated preferences.
  • Provides support to enhance student engagement, academic progression and retention.
  • Reviews student grade reports each semester to determine probation and/or suspension based on academic regulations of university; notifies and places students on probation or suspension; returns students to regular status after sufficient progress is made.
  • Assists with planning, attending and participating in orientation, information dissemination sessions, and other special events during evenings and weekends as required.
  • Maintains appropriate records and documentation by utilizing Anthology and provides various reports to administration upon request.
  • May participate in training and evaluative sessions and recommend methods to improve advisement activities.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the Vice President, Dean, or designee(s).

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree in education, counseling, or another related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 -4 years working with students from diverse backgrounds in academic advising, counseling, social work, or related areas; preferably in higher education OR equivalent educational experience.
  • Must enjoy working with students and helping to guide them through their academics to graduation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with an attention to detail for complex academic logistics.
  • Ability to work well with others at various levels.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Display self-motivation and initiative.
  • Be able to communicate and interact effectively with diverse backgrounds and across multiple levels.
  • Be detail-oriented and have the ability to work with precision.
  • Have the ability to keep calm under pressure.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at a desk and operate a computer using keyboard and reading information on a monitor. This is a hybrid position. Must be able to commute to the New York campus at least 2-3 days per week. A dedicated workstation is required for remote work.

Salary Expectations: $26.45 – $31.25 per hour / $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 annually
